Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan turned the concluding ceremony of the Haryana-based Khet Bachao Abhiyan into a broader call for sustainable agriculture, balanced fertiliser use, and soil health protection. The programme in Rewari district also saw the launch of the Haryana Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) Mission, which makes the event relevant for both agriculture policy and rural livelihoods.
The current significance of the programme lies in its linkage between farm productivity, soil fertility, water conservation, and crop diversification. The minister’s remarks also placed Haryana’s agricultural model in a wider policy frame that includes state support for farmers, technology use, and climate resilience.

According to the government communication, the event was held at the College of Agriculture, Bawal, in Rewari district. The programme was chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and Shyam Singh Rana, Haryana’s Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries Minister, attended as guest of honour.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan said farmers must become prosperous and empowered for the goal of a self-reliant and developed India. He praised Haryana’s farmer-centric policies and described the state as a model for agricultural governance and resource management.
