The Government of India has notified revised wage rates under the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin): VB–G RAM G Act, 2025, effective from 1 July 2026. The notification is important because it combines a nationwide wage revision with an explicit wage floor for rural employment, while also linking the new regime to the wider employment guarantee framework for rural households.

The Ministry of Rural Development says the revised structure is meant to strengthen rural livelihoods, reduce regional disparities, and reinforce the dignity of labour. The official communication also states that the new wage framework is designed to give larger gains to States that had historically lower notified wages.

What changed

The revised notification under the VB–G RAM G Act, 2025 introduces a ₹300 interim base wage rate. The Government of India states that no notified wage under the programme will be below this floor.

The notification also revises wages across all 34 States and Union Territories and administrative regions covered in the release. The official communication says 21 States/UTs and administrative units have been brought up to the new interim base wage rate.

The Ministry of Rural Development states that the national average notified wage has increased under the new framework, and that the average percentage increase is above 10 per cent. The release also says the lowest notified wage under the earlier rural employment wage structure had been below the new base wage floor.
