Madanapalle Municipality (Andhra Pradesh) adopted an integrated and structured approach to urban sanitation and solid waste management under Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban 2.0 (SBM-U 2.0). The stated objective is to develop Madanapalle into a Zero Waste City through source segregation, scientific processing, resource recovery, and legacy waste remediation.

Madanapalle Municipality generates approximately 62 tonnes per day (TPD) of municipal solid waste, including 25.50 TPD dry waste, 36 TPD wet waste, and 0.50 TPD domestic hazardous waste. To manage this waste stream, the municipality implemented a systematic source segregation mechanism across the town and categorized waste into biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and upcycling waste.
