What happened: India crosses 300.50 GW non-fossil installed power capacity (as on 31 July 2026)
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) reported that India crossed 300.50 GW of non-fossil fuel-based installed electricity generation capacity as on 31 July 2026. MNRE also reported that non-fossil fuel electricity capacity accounts for over 54% of India’s total installed electricity generation capacity, which is around 552 GW (as stated in the release).

MNRE provided the following installed capacity distribution for non-fossil fuel sources (as on 31.07.2026):
