The Department of Health Research–Indian Council of Medical Research (DHR-ICMR) is organising the second edition of S.H.I.N.E. (Science, Health and Innovation for NextGen Explorers), a nationwide school outreach initiative, on 11–12 August 2026. The programme is planned for two days and will be hosted across 83 locations in India.
S.H.I.N.E. will include hands-on and interactive activities for school students so that students can engage with scientists, explore scientific research, and experience health and innovation work firsthand.
Where it will be hosted and who can participate
S.H.I.N.E. outreach locations will include ICMR institutes, DHR-Model Rural Health Research Units (MRHRUs), and affiliated field units. DHR-ICMR says students of Grades 9 to 12 from government and private schools are invited to apply.
Participation for the 2026 edition is by invitation. ICMR laboratories are expected to invite nearby government and private schools to take part.
