What happened (latest official update)

The Ministry of Defence announced that the Indian Coast Guard will host the fifth Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) in New Delhi in February 2027, coinciding with the Swarnim Jayanti of the Bharatiya Tatrakshak.

To prepare for the summit, the Indian Coast Guard hosted a Working Level Meeting (WLM) of the 5th CGGS in hybrid mode. The Working Level Meeting discussed institutional and organisational work needed for the summit, including agenda items, coordination mechanisms, and future engagement planning.

Background and earlier position

The Coast Guard Global Summit is an India-hosted multilateral maritime engagement intended to promote cooperation among participating maritime agencies. In the run-up to each CGGS, working-level consultations typically focus on operational coordination points such as guidelines, information exchange, and scheduling of collaborative activities.
