What happened: NSO releases QBUSE for April–June 2026
The National Statistics Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), released the Quarterly Bulletin on Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (QBUSE) for the quarter April–June 2026. QBUSE provides quarterly estimates for unincorporated non-agricultural enterprises, derived from the framework of the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE), but with more frequent (quarterly) estimates to capture short-term changes.
Background and earlier position: ASUSE and why QBUSE was introduced
NSO introduced the ASUSE in 2021–22 to generate detailed annual estimates on the structure, operations, and economic performance of the unincorporated non-agricultural sector. After three successive annual rounds, NSO began publishing quarterly bulletins (QBUSE) from 2025 onward, using the same underlying framework so that quarterly indicators remain comparable over time.
The unincorporated non-agricultural sector is important for India’s economy because it supports GDP, provides significant employment, and enables local entrepreneurship and supply chains. QBUSE aims to measure quarterly movements in the sector’s scale, composition, and employment profile.
