What happened: CAQM’s special intensive surprise inspection in Loni, Ghaziabad (Operation Clean Air)
The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) conducted a Special Intensive Inspection Drive in Loni, Ghaziabad as part of its drive against illegal and polluting industrial units in the National Capital Region (NCR). The inspection drive took place on 25.08.2026 under Operation Clean Air. The drive aimed at identifying industrial units operating illegally outside environmental regulatory mechanisms.
CAQM deployed seven flying squads and conducted inspections with Magistrates, Police, and officials of the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) across industrial premises in Loni, Ghaziabad.
Inspections covered and findings for 28 industrial premises:
All inspected premises showed non-compliance with applicable environmental norms. Key violations reported during inspections were:
• 21 cases of operating without valid Consent to Operate (CTO).
