Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh met a delegation of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and discussed the role of good corporate governance in India’s development. Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized that good governance must go hand in hand with professional excellence, and he underlined the expanding role of Company Secretaries in India’s governance ecosystem.

Dr. Jitendra Singh also took note of ICSI’s work on Panchayat governance and local-body governance, including manuals and training material in multiple languages. The minister appreciated ICSI’s digitalisation initiatives for elections, including electronic voting and a preferential voting system for ICSI elections.

ICSI briefed Dr. Jitendra Singh about ICSI’s scale and activities, including the reported presence of more than 80,000 members and around 250,000 students. The minister was invited as Guest of Honour at the presentation ceremony of the 26th ICSI National Awards for Excellence in Corporate Governance, planned for 2027, which recognises organisations and individuals for excellence in corporate governance.
