What happened (beneficiary story and outcomes)

Kerala-based private vehicle driver Sunil Kumar K.P. shifted to self-employment as an autorickshaw owner after receiving a loan under the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) Scheme. The loan helped him cross a key barrier—lack of savings to buy a vehicle despite having driving experience—by converting his wage work into asset-based earnings.

Before NBCFDC support: barrier was economic

Sunil Kumar K.P. worked as a private vehicle driver and earned only ₹5,000 per month. Even with driving experience, limited income prevented him from purchasing a vehicle and improving his livelihood. His earnings were not enough to meet household expenses and save enough to invest in a vehicle, so he remained dependent on private driving work.

When the turning point happened: loan in 2022

In 2022, Sunil Kumar K.P. learned about the NBCFDC loan scheme through the Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation (KSBCDC). He received a term loan of ₹2.69 lakh under the scheme.
