What happened (high-level review for malaria elimination by 2030)

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (NHM leadership) held a high-level review meeting on progress towards India’s malaria elimination by 2030. Smt. Aradhana Patnaik, Additional Secretary and Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM), chaired the meeting with senior officers from the Ministry, the National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC), Mission Directors of National Health Missions, and District Collectors from the concerned States and districts.

The review examined results in the 33 high-burden districts and discussed action for prevention of local transmission, early detection, and accurate surveillance reporting.

Key reported progress (2015–2025 and high-burden district focus)

Government-reported indicators showed a major fall in malaria burden and a shrinking of the geographic areas carrying most of the burden.
