The Andaman and Nicobar Islands administration withdrew an Expression of Interest (EoI) that sought feasibility proposals for a private “green AI” data centre project on the islands, with siting linked to sea areas around Great Nicobar.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands administration withdrew the EoI immediately due to administrative reasons shortly after it was published.
Reported concerns from local communities
Reported concerns focused on whether local Nicobarese communities on Great Nicobar were informed about a plan to set up a data centre in sea areas around the island. Residents were also reported to be protesting a much larger Great Nicobar infrastructure project estimated at about ₹91,000 crore.
