What happened
The National Conference will proceed with a planned protest in Delhi on 19 July over the Statehood issue in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the party’s demand for the restoration of its "snatched rights" remains unchanged, even after the death of his uncle Dr. Mustafa Kamal and uncertainty over police permission for Jantar Mantar.
The party also plans a protest by all its legislators on the first day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session. Omar Abdullah said the National Conference has invited regional and national parties to join, but no regional party has confirmed participation so far. Omar Abdullah also said the National Conference will go to Delhi even if permission for Jantar Mantar is not granted and will decide its next steps on arrival.
