Former West Indies fast bowler Michael Holding paid tribute to Garry Sobers after Sobers died at 89. Holding said Sobers stood out among cricket's greats not only for performance but also for humility and stature among contemporaries.

Holding recalled that other cricketers, including Ian Chappell, treated Sobers as more than the best all-rounder and called him the best cricketer ever. Holding also noted Sobers' strong Test record with both bat and ball.
