What happened

Venezuela has reported severe losses after twin earthquakes in June. Officials said the death toll crossed 5,000, and the coastal state of La Guaira suffered the worst damage.

The Venezuelan government has drawn $346 million from the International Monetary Fund for reconstruction efforts. Officials also said most injured people have already been discharged from hospital.

Background and earlier position
