What happened: PLFS unemployment rises in April–June 2026
India’s Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, shows an increase in unemployment for people aged 15 years and above in the April–June 2026 quarter. The unemployment rate moved up compared with the previous quarter, with increases reported for both rural and urban areas and clear differences by gender.
