What happened: projectile hit, capsize, and sinking off Yemen
India’s External Affairs Ministry stated that an Indian-flagged merchant vessel sank off the coast of Yemen after being hit by a projectile near Yemeni waters. India stated that the projectile impact led to capsize and sinking.
India reported the following rescue and response outcomes:
All 14 crew members were rescued.Among the rescued crew, 13 crew members were Indians.Union Shipping Minister described the attack on commercial shipping as unprovoked.The Yemeni Coast Guard rescued the crew and brought the rescued crew to the Port of Mokha.India’s External Affairs Ministry condemned the attack on commercial shipping and said targeting ships in the region must stop.
