The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) raised the price ceilings for anti-cancer medicines **cisplatin** and **carboplatin**. NPPA did this on **June 12** by invoking **special clauses** under its pharma pricing mechanism to revise the ceiling prices.

In India, the NPPA sets and enforces price ceilings for medicines that fall under the government’s drug price control framework. A “price ceiling” is the maximum price a manufacturer or seller can charge for a medicine in the controlled category, aimed at protecting consumers from excessive increases.
