The Union government, led by Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, circulated the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 for introduction in the Lok Sabha. The Bill targets repeat paper leaks and unfair practices in public examinations by strengthening the anti-cheating criminal framework.
The amendments propose higher penalties under the 2024 Act, mandatory investigation timelines, and Special Fast Track Courts for faster trials and appeals. The Bill also specifies procedural controls to limit adjournments and sets strict deadlines for completion of investigation, trial, and appellate decisions.
