Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal alleged that an AI-generated deepfake video maliciously altered his remarks to mislead the public. Goyal said he lodged a police complaint, and an FIR (First Information Report) was registered at the Chanakyapuri police station.
In his social media post, Piyush Goyal claimed the manipulated clip was being circulated online to deceive and warned of strict legal action against people involved in creating, disseminating, or promoting the deepfake.
Government sources indicated that many social media links carrying the deepfake video were taken down.
