Iran’s foreign minister warned that Iran would respond to a deadly strike by Ukraine on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea. The warning followed statements by Ukraine’s president saying Kyiv carried out long-range strikes against ships involved in transporting military cargo with Iran.
Iranian officials said the strike caused the targeted ship to explode, killing one sailor and injuring several others. Iranian officials also said Iran has not intervened in the Russia–Ukraine conflict. Iran’s foreign ministry summoned Ukraine’s chargé d’affaires in Tehran to protest the action.
