What happened
Kailash Vijayvargiya, Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister and senior BJP leader, claimed that Dharmendra Pradhan offered to resign as Union Education Minister at the start of the NEET agitation connected to alleged question-paper leak concerns. Vijayvargiya said BJP president Nitin Nabin told Pradhan not to resign until top BJP leadership decided the next step. Vijayvargiya also claimed that Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation would have been used to “foiled plans of foreign forces” seeking unrest in India.
Rajnath Singh made separate remarks for Kargil Vijay Diwas (27th Kargil). Rajnath Singh contrasted India’s focus on innovation, semiconductors, space technology and digital payments with Pakistan’s promotion of terrorism, infiltration, radicalisation and proxy warfare (as per Rajnath Singh’s remarks). Rajnath Singh said India has given the armed forces freedom to respond decisively to threats and expressed confidence that no adversary would dare cast a hostile eye while soldiers guard borders. Rajnath Singh also cited progress in defence indigenisation, stating that nearly 65% of defence equipment is manufactured domestically, compared with higher import dependence at the start of the prior government. Rajnath Singh attributed a line that dialogue with Pakistan would be only on PoK.
Background and earlier position
NEET agitation refers to public protests connected to alleged question-paper leak concerns in India’s medical entrance-examination process. In education-exam governance, decision-makers face the challenge of maintaining examination integrity, carrying out investigation and corrective actions, and managing public unrest while meeting procedural timelines.
Defence indigenisation is generally discussed as increasing domestic manufacturing of defence equipment to reduce import dependence and strengthen self-reliance in defence supply.
