What happened (opening-round framing for the Duleep Trophy)

A Duleep Trophy preview fragment indicates that the domestic cricket tournament starts on Sunday. The preview argues that early competitive matches function like opening moves in chess, because the results and performances in the inaugural round can influence which teams move forward in the domestic calendar.

The preview highlights specific opening-round focus points:

- The North–West contest is singled out as a key early matchup.

- The East vs North East ground matchup is highlighted, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi mentioned in connection with that matchup.
