What happened (5 August rally in Anantnag)
A BJP rally was held in south Kashmir’s Anantnag on 5 August. An outcry followed over slogans used during the event, with allegations that the slogans berated Kashmir women.
The BJP described the remarks as objectionable and derogatory. The BJP suspended nine party workers, and the suspended workers later tendered apologies on social media platforms.

The BJP stated that disciplinary action would be initiated against those responsible for organising and participating in an unauthorised rally. The BJP also said it took serious note of the remarks described as objectionable and derogatory.
