A Hamas official announced that Hamas will dissolve the governing body that has administered the Gaza Strip for nearly two decades.
The move is intended to clear the way for a technocratic committee to implement civilian governance.
The announcement marks a significant political shift, given Hamas’s long-running control of Gaza following its takeover from Fatah in 2007.
