What happened
Police in Rangareddy district, Telangana, said a 35-year-old man, B. Rajkumar, is accused of stabbing to death six people in two separate attacks in Shabad mandal. Police said the killings allegedly happened late Friday night at two locations about six kilometres apart.
The victims named by police were the minor girl, her mother, her maternal grandmother, the accused’s wife Sarita, and the accused’s two children, aged four years and one-and-a-half years. Investigators believe the killings were retaliatory.
After the attacks, the accused allegedly called his father and confessed. Police said the weapon was recovered, senior police officers visited the sites, and a reward of ₹2 lakh has been announced for information leading to his arrest.
Background and earlier position
Police said B. Rajkumar had earlier been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 sections 11 and 12 for stalking and sexually harassing the girl. He had been out on a personal bond because the offence carried a sentence of less than seven years.
