What happened
Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said artificial intelligence should be used only for procedural convenience in the justice system. He said AI may help with triaging disputes, organising evidence, and drafting translations, but it must not weigh equities between parties or effectively decide cases.
The Chief Justice of India framed the warning against concerns inside the Supreme Court of India about blind reliance on AI, including a prior instance in which a tribunal relied on AI-hallucinated verdicts.
