What happened
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei vowed revenge for the U.S.-Israeli killing of his father, Ali Khamenei, after new threats from U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump warned that any attempt to assassinate him would lead the United States to "completely decimate" Iran and also claimed extensive missile readiness.
The Iranian message said vengeance would inevitably be carried out, that the timing or presence of officials would not matter, and that Iran had compiled a list of individuals to be targeted.

Earlier U.S.-Israeli strikes killed Ali Khamenei in late February. Before issuing the revenge warning, Mojtaba Khamenei had largely stayed out of public view.
