What happened: methanol poisoning in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat
A liquor poisoning incident in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district has affected 61 people so far.
Authorities reported eight deaths confirmed and 10 patients in critical condition, indicating severe poisoning outcomes among those who consumed the liquor.
Authorities stated that the liquor contained methanol, a toxic substance that can cause serious illness and death after ingestion.
District authorities reported that 25 affected people were still receiving treatment at the time of reporting.
Police reported that a criminal case was registered through a First Information Report (FIR) at Vartej police station, and police arrested 13 of 21 accused named in the FIR.
