Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan has filed an election petition in the Madhya Pradesh High Court against the rejection of her nomination papers in the Rajya Sabha elections from Madhya Pradesh. The petition follows the rejection of her nomination in the election for three Rajya Sabha seats from the State held in June 2026.

Background and earlier position
The petition alleges that the Returning Officer rejected Ms. Natarajan’s nomination for concealment of information that was legally required in the affidavit filed with nomination papers. Ms. Natarajan’s stand is that the complaint pending before a Telangana court was not a criminal case and therefore did not have to be disclosed in the affidavit.
The issue was first raised before the Returning Officer by Mahesh Kewat, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate. After the rejection, all three BJP candidates — Tarun Chugh, Rajneesh Agrawal and Mahesh Kewat — were elected to the three Rajya Sabha seats from Madhya Pradesh.
