Navavidha Sambandham, or the ninefold relationship, is explained as a spiritual framework in Swami Pillai Lokacharya’s Ashtadasa Rahasyangal. The concept describes distinct bonds between the Supreme Lord, called Emberuman, and living souls, called jivatmas.
The exposition presents the nine relationships as father-child, protector-protected, master-subordinate, sustainer-dependent, knowable-knower, lord-property, support, soul-body, and enjoyer-enjoyed. In this devotional interpretation, the soul’s eternal connection with the Divine is the central idea.
