What happened (Russian strikes on Ukraine; NATO–Poland cross-border incident)
Russian missiles and drones struck multiple Ukrainian cities overnight, reportedly killing at least around 10 civilians, including children, and injuring more than 50 people.
A missile crossing into Poland prompted NATO to activate additional warplanes. Polish authorities visited the likely impact site in Lublin province and reported a crater.
Polish authorities stated there were no injuries and no damage at the reported crater site.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte described the incident as reckless and dangerous. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk described it as serious, while also stating there was no reason to believe Poland was the target.
