What happened: police–protester clashes near the Independence Day venue (Hansi, Haryana)
Hansi, Haryana witnessed clashes between police personnel and farmer union members and khap panchayat protesters during protests planned around an Independence Day event. The scheduled programme included Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini hoisting the National Flag at the event venue.
Police and protesters were reported to exchange allegations of violence, including stone-pelting.
Reported injuries included six police personnel, including Hansi SP Vinod Kumar, and several protesters.
The confrontation began near Sisai village. Protesters—reported to include women—attempted to proceed toward the venue where the Haryana Chief Minister was scheduled to hoist the National Flag.
Police alleged that protesters used stones and attempted to run police over with tractors.
