The Rung community in Uttarakhand recently opposed a group’s plan to install a Shivling near the sacred Om Parvat, generating significant cultural and religious tension.
While the Rungs are devoted to Shiva, they worship him through natural landscapes like mountains and rivers, fearing that man-made structures could erode their traditions and turn the site into a commercial pilgrimage.
