What happened: BCCI increases live telecast plans for Duleep Trophy 2026-27
BCCI plans to increase television coverage for the Duleep Trophy in the 2026-27 edition so fans can watch their teams and players.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stated that the 2026-27 Duleep Trophy will begin on August 23 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). Saikia indicated that the number of matches being telecast will be higher than in the previous edition.
Saikia also addressed the suggestion to host the tournament final in a “proper stadium”. He said BCCI appreciates the suggestion and will examine the option, while also explaining the existing constraints at the CoE campus.
Background and earlier position: Duleep Trophy held behind closed doors in the previous year’s setup
Compared with last year’s Duleep Trophy, which was held at the BCCI Centre of Excellence with early matches not televised and the tournament held behind closed doors, BCCI is now planning broader broadcast coverage.
