What happened
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) of the Indian National Congress is scheduled to meet on 19 August to assess the political situation and to finalise a strategy to increase pressure on the Centre (Union government).
The CWC meeting is expected to focus on two linked political issues for public mobilisation and campaign messaging:
Student protest demands connected to alleged student paper leak events.Congress allegations that there was a “theft” of Ram Temple donations collected for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The meeting is expected to be chaired by Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress president. Senior Congress leaders expected to attend include Rahul Gandhi (Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha) and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
