What happened
The Supreme Court of India has extended the time available to the National Task Force so that it can file its final report on student suicides and mental health concerns among students in higher education institutions. The extension keeps the issue under continued judicial review and signals that the Court considers the subject important enough for further examination rather than a quick closure.
The Ministry of Education said the National Task Force was constituted by the Supreme Court of India on March 24, 2025. The task force was asked to address the rising incidence of student suicides and to examine mental health and well-being concerns among students in higher education institutions across India.
