What happened
The Government of India launched SHE-LEAPS on 29 June 2026 as a digital platform for rural entrepreneurship under the LokOS platform. The platform is meant for women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across rural India.
According to the official release, SHE-LEAPS provides a unified system for enterprise creation, performance tracking, and business management. The platform is intended to support both farm and non-farm enterprises.
UPSC can frame SHE-LEAPS as an example of women’s economic empowerment, SHG-led livelihood diversification, and the use of digital governance tools to improve enterprise management in rural India. Questions may test the role of SHGs, the design logic of LokOS, and the challenges of translating digital platforms into sustainable livelihoods.
