What happened: Ministry coordination for science outreach and ESTIC 2026 planning

The Ministry of Science and Technology reviewed how to make science achievements communication more direct, contemporary, and accessible. The Ministry focused on sustained visibility for achievements and collaborations by aligning communication and social-media teams across different science departments.

The Ministry also reviewed preparations for the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2026, scheduled from October 27 to 29 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The Ministry stated that three Nobel Laureates and three other international award recipients had confirmed participation, and further confirmations were expected.

Background and earlier position: science communication through departments, with fragmentation risk

Science departments and laboratories in India share achievements through multiple channels, often using department-level communication teams and separate social-media efforts. Without an inter-department coordination model and a common content repository, validated information can be duplicated, inconsistent in presentation, or not reach citizens and potential technology users with enough continuity.

Under such a fragmented approach, short-form digital reach (such as short videos) and larger dissemination platforms (like exhibitions) can exist, but content workflows and validation may remain department-specific. This limits cross-department reuse of credible material and slows scaling of communication once an event or campaign begins.
