What happened: FRP for sugarcane and sector metrics

The Government of India, through an official PIB Backgrounder, set the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for sugarcane for sugar season 2026-27 (October–September) at ₹365 per quintal. The PIB backgrounder also states that this FRP provides a basic recovery rate of 10.25%.

The PIB backgrounder further states that adequate sugar buffer stocks are available and that sugar production in 2025–26 is expected to remain sufficient.
