What happened: NCIP-based digitisation and grievance redressal for PMFBY
The Government of India has described a digital and governance framework for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) aimed at transparent, timely, and accurate crop insurance services. The framework uses multiple digital modules to connect farmer enrolment, insured-area validation, crop cutting experiment data, loss assessment, claim calculation, claim settlement, and grievance redressal.
What the Government says the digital modules do
PMFBY is implemented through the following technology and governance components:
National Crop Insurance Portal (NCIP): supports digital farmer enrolment, subsidy administration, coordination, information dissemination, access to insured farmers’ details, calculation of eligible claims, and electronic transfer of claims directly into farmers’ bank accounts.
