The Ministry of Panchayati Raj organized a National Workshop of State Panchayati Raj Ministers on the Recommendations of the Sixteenth Finance Commission in New Delhi.
The workshop addressed the devolution of ₹4,35,236 crore to Rural Local Bodies for the period 2026-27 to 2030-31, highlighting a significant increase compared to previous Finance Commission allocations.
Union Minister Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh emphasized the need for States to enhance fiscal self-reliance and utilize the new funds effectively to strengthen grassroots democracy.
The workshop also focused on the operationalization of the SAMARTH Panchayat Portal for improving transparency and financial management.
