The Ministry of Panchayati Raj reported the status of 15th Finance Commission grants for Rural Local Bodies during the 2021-26 award period. The release is important because it links constitutional local governance, fiscal transfers, and digital monitoring of Panchayat expenditure.
The same release also highlights Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDPs), the eGramSwaraj portal, and eGramSwaraj-PFMS linked online fund transfers. These are central to decentralised planning, accounting, transparency, and accountability in Panchayati Raj institutions.
What the Ministry of Panchayati Raj reported
The Union Minister for Panchayati Raj, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, informed the Rajya Sabha on 22 July 2026 that state-wise details of grants released under the 15th Finance Commission to rural local bodies in 28 States were placed in an annexure.
The release stated that the unreleased amount consists of grants that could not be released during the award period because the concerned State Governments or Rural Local Bodies did not fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions.
