The Indian Navy is set to commission its sixth Project 17A indigenous stealth frigate, Mahendragiri (F38), at Visakhapatnam on 11 Jul 2026.
Mahendragiri, named after the Mahendragiri mountain range, represents India’s advancing expertise in warship design and construction.
With advanced stealth features and over 75% indigenous content, this frigate embodies the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
The ship includes advanced weapons systems and capabilities for maritime security, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), and Search and Rescue (SAR) operations.
