What happened
The Ministry of Labour and Employment said conciliation proceedings resolved an industrial dispute involving contract workers at Ultratech Cement Works Plant, Baga, Himachal Pradesh. The settlement was reached on 10 July 2026 through the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Chandigarh, functioning under the Office of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central).
According to the Ministry, the settlement is expected to benefit about 284 contract workers and has an estimated financial implication of around ₹15 crore over five years.
What changed now
The settlement addresses service and welfare issues raised during conciliation. The Ministry said the agreement includes a ₹6,000 per month wage increase in the first year, provisions relating to promotion policy, supply of woollen jackets, and timely payment of statutory bonus.
The Ministry also said the management was sensitised about statutory obligations relating to workers’ welfare, fair service conditions, and compliance with labour laws. The management, the Lal Jhanda Cement Plant Workers Union, Baga (CITU), and the Ultratech Cement Kamgar Sangh, Baga (BMS), took part in the settlement process.
