What happened
The Department of Land Resources in the Ministry of Rural Development met the RBI Innovation Hub to explore convergence between Digital Public Infrastructure for land governance and the Unified Lending Interface. The discussion was aimed at building a secure, interoperable and consent-based system for rural credit delivery, especially for farmers and other rural citizens.
What the discussion covered
The meeting focused on linking authenticated digital land records with institutional lending systems so that land-related information can support credit appraisal and loan processing. The participants discussed secure access to standardised land records, faster delivery of agricultural loans, and mechanisms to reduce duplication in financing against the same land parcel.
The Department of Land Resources also discussed expansion of ULPIN (Bhu-Aadhaar), common data standards, and application programming interface interoperability across land and financial-sector platforms.
