The Union Home Minister instructed the West Bengal government on several operational steps. These included a Women Outreach Programme for rural women, creation of specialised police and security capacities, review of terrorism-related cases, removal of illegal encroachments on government land in border areas, and a flood management plan for Kolkata.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said that the state could contact the Union Home Ministry directly if required. The meeting also placed emphasis on police modernisation, vacancy filling, cadre review, and phased reduction in reliance on civic volunteers.
