What happened
According to the Ministry of Law and Justice, a draft of the Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2026, prepared in consultation with the Bar Council of India, has been placed for stakeholder consultation. The Bar Council of India hosted the draft on its official website on 18 July 2026 and invited comments and suggestions from stakeholders and members of the public.
The Ministry has asked stakeholders to submit comments by 31 July 2026, 03:00 PM to the email addresses mentioned in the release.
