What happened

The 135th meeting of the Enforcement Task Force of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in NCR and Adjoining Areas reviewed enforcement actions, inspections and compliance status in the National Capital Region (NCR) for the reporting period 01.07.2026 to 13.07.2026. The meeting was held on 20.07.2026.

The review covered industrial emissions, construction dust, diesel generator sets and road redevelopment compliance. The CAQM said that its Flying Squads continued field inspections and that action was taken on violations through closure proposals, sealing proposals, compliance directions and environmental compensation.

Key enforcement findings

During the reporting period, the CAQM Flying Squads carried out inspections across three priority sectors: construction and demolition sites, industrial units and diesel generator-set related installations. The Enforcement Task Force also reviewed follow-up action on decisions taken in its earlier meeting and said that actionable cases in the industrial, construction and diesel generator set sectors had been acted upon by concerned agencies.

The meeting also recorded a large cumulative enforcement footprint since the Commission’s inspection drive began, with closure directions issued against non-compliant entities and resumption orders granted only after verification of compliance. The Commission further noted that some cases had been transferred to State Pollution Control Boards and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee for final decision, while other entities remained under examination for resumption orders.
