What happened

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) carried out a special inspection drive in Faridabad and Gurugram on 22.07.2026. CAQM assessed 64 urban road stretches covering around 31 kilometres for compliance with the Commission’s Standard Framework for Paving and Greening of Urban Roads.

CAQM deployed 9 Flying Squads to inspect road stretches under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation Faridabad (MCF) and the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG). The inspection covered 50 road stretches under MCF and 14 road stretches under MCG. The inspected roads included Right of Way (RoW) categories of less than 10 metres and 10–15 metres.

CAQM reported that 49 of the 64 road stretches showed end-to-end paving (38 in Faridabad and 11 in Gurugram). CAQM also reported that end-to-end paving was not found on 15 road stretches (12 in Faridabad and 3 in Gurugram), indicating that remaining redevelopment works still needed completion.

CAQM further stated that although MCF and MCG claimed redevelopment in accordance with the Standard Framework, instances of non-compliance were detected during the inspection. CAQM indicated that it would communicate to identify officers/officials responsible for furnishing incorrect information and to take appropriate disciplinary action.
